Education and Administration Module
Educate Users and Automatically Administer Network Usage Policies
Available as an upgrade for current CopySense® Network Appliance installations or as an add-on for new systems, the new Education and Administration module helps educate users and automates network policy enforcement procedures. Select between a range of automated actions toward users who attempt to violate network policies.
An Educational Tool
Automatically direct users to custom web pages based upon predetermined violations. Violation types and actions taken are selected by network administration.
Preprogrammed violation types include:
- Using P2P applications to download copyrighted music or movies
- Using P2P applications to download sexually explicit or other offensive content
- Using P2P applications in any way
Upon detection of a violation, the CopySense Appliance can automatically respond in a variety of ways:
- Direct the user to a web page or series of pages providing warnings and/or educational material regarding their violation
- Reduce or terminate the user’s network access for a selected period of time
- Require completion of a task such as an educational test to restore network access
Automated Escalation Enforcement
The system monitors repeat violation attempts and allows different actions to be selected for escalated levels of response. For example, upon detection of a download of a copyrighted song or movie, a notification could be automatically sent and the user classified as a first offender. Upon a 2nd offense, P2P and web access bandwidth could be reduced significantly, and the user could be required to complete a self-paced education module on the value of copyrights. The 3rd offense could block all network use for 48 hours. The 4th offense could block all network use and require the user to meet with a designated advisor before restoring access.
