Integration Expands Coincident Two-Screen Applications to Better Serve Content Providers

BOSTON, The Cable Show — May 21, 2012 — Coincident – the San Francisco-based technology company behind ScreenSync TV and Audible Magic, a pioneer in automated content recognition (ACR) technology and solutions, today announced that Audible Magic’s SmartID and SmartSync ACR solutions will be integrated with ScreenSync TV, Coincident’s two-screen technology that offers synchronized control between a tablet and a television. The move – which leverages Audible Magic’s patented digital fingerprint ACR technology to identify and synchronize television content and advertising, including live TV programming – adds a new control mechanism for deploying ScreenSync TV via broadcast or over-the-top services and provides supplemental control mechanism for Service Provider deployments. Coincident’s customers – MSOs, television networks, production companies and advertisers – can now take advantage of ScreenSync TV to build deeply interactive and coordinated two-screen viewing experiences, generate revenues by delivering more engaging advertisements, enable contextual commerce and integrate new social elements.

“We are pleased to add Audible Magic’s automatic content recognition technology to the Coincident platform as the addition brings best-of-breed ACR to Coincident’s best-of-breed two-screen control-plane synchronization and authoring,” said John Gilles, SVP of Sales and Marketing for Coincident. “Together they make for an unparalleled companion app experience for TV subscribers.”

Coincident’s ScreenSync TV technology was chosen as the “Best New Idea Most Likely to Succeed” in the cable market as part of an informal polling conducted at CableLabs Winter Conference in March. Additionally, ScreenSync TV was selected as the best of the two-screen class at CES according to ABI Research analyst Sam Rosen: “Coincident stole the show here; they showed the best, most developed, and most proven second-screen solution, featuring launched TV experiences (‘Glee Superfan’) with synchronized interactivity and easy authoring of rich experiences using templates.”

“Coincident has established a very strong credibility among cable operators,” said Jay Friedman, VP of Marketing and Client Services for Audible Magic. “We’re excited to work with them to expand ScreenSync to new markets and uses.”

During The Cable Show, Coincident will be demonstrating its two-screen connectivity capabilities in the Cisco booth with a basketball viewing companion app built around the NBA all-star game. The two-screen app offers viewers real-time, live game statistics, player updates and the ability for viewers to control their own instant replays on the big-screen using a tablet as the controller. In addition, Coincident has been invited to demonstrate its ScreenSync TV technology at Imagine Park, NCTA’s live events stage, as part of a segment focused on interesting multi-platform interactivity.

Audible Magic has also been invited to demonstrate its SmartID and SmartSync solutions at Imagine Park and will be exhibiting its range of embedded and two-screen ACR solutions at The Cable Show in its booth, #2043.
