AMLive™ Overview
Twitter is partnering with Audible Magic for a beta launch of its AMLive service. This service protects copyright owners content in live broadcasts on Twitter and Periscope. AMLive specifically addresses needs to protect copyrighted live broadcast events (such as live sports or award shows) in real-time.
Audible Magic offers multiple solutions for copyright owners to protect their content. Protecting your content requires proactive registration with Audible Magic.
How AMLive™ Works
It starts with registering your live broadcasts feeds with Audible Magic. Registering feeds is done via our CMS Portal. During a scheduled event, the AMLive service generates fingerprints in real-time from these broadcasts feeds. These reference fingerprints are then stored in our Registry of copyright works.
Then, for each live user broadcast that is streaming unknown content, digital fingerprints are extracted and compared to the reference Registry. When a user broadcast fingerprint matches a fingerprint in the reference Registry, metadata about the event and a business rule is communicated back to Twitter. Metadata includes the name of the event and copyright owner. Business rules include rules such as “block” or “allow”.
Audible Magic’s SDK is used by live streaming platforms to integrate content identification of UGC live streams into its incoming media-handling process. Twitter periodically sends fingerprints of uploaded media to Audible Magic’s service, where the unknown fingerprint is compared to reference fingerprints in targeted Content Registries that are generated from content feeds supplied directly by content owners.
The Audible Magic service returns results indicating a match or no-match condition. A no-match condition implies that the content in question has not been registered in one of Audible Magic’s databases. In the event that matching content is found, the content owner’s business rules are returned by our information service. Business rules express the content owner’s wishes to either block, track or allow content sharing on Twitter and Periscope.

Providing content
To begin providing live content to Audible Magic a content owner needs to take the following steps:
- Complete Audible Magic’s Content Registration Agreement.
- You will then be contacted by Audible Magic Client Services with login information for the AMLive Portal.
- Through the portal, provide the details of your events to be captured by supplying:
-
- Date and time of event(s) to be captured
- Start time of event
- Minimum length of event
- Maximum anticipated length of event
- RTMP URIs for primary and secondary acquisition points*
- Contact and rightsholder information
*AMLive currently only supports RTMP streams. Please see the Feed Specs tab for specifications.
Please note that ALL content provided in the primary and secondary RTMP streams will be BLOCKED. Therefore, these feeds must NOT contain any advertisements or public service announcements (PSAs). If ads will be present during your program, the streams must not contain any audio of the ad segments. Passing video is acceptable, however the audio must be muted (digital silence) during the ad segments. It is suggested that you provide RTMP feeds that are sourced from different servers for purposes of redundancy.
The Content Provider is responsible to stop the feed. The AMLive servers will stop processing when one of the following has occurred:
- Definitive end time reached
- Maximum Duration time after event start has been reached
- Feed is stopped between the Minimum duration and Max duration window
NOTE: The AMLive infrastructure currently only supports fingerprinting of the audio portion of the video. When video fingerprinting is available, the feeds will need to be clear of any visual references during ad avails for future planning purposes.
Feed specs
You may provide reference RTMP feeds at any video bitrate, however all that is required for AMLive capture purposes is audio at a minimum of 48Kbps. (Note, video fingerprint identification will be available in late Q1 of 2019.) The feed can be provided as a push to our cloud-based servers or as a pull from your servers.
From a best practice standpoint, the following configuration is preferred:
